How Do I Change my Address with the NY DMV?
Change Your Address Online
Is your license expired? And are you now at a completely different address than the one listed on your license? If you are renewing your license and need to update your address (or if you need to update your address at any other time), you will need to complete the following steps:
First, you will have to update your address with the Post Office. Then, you will need to change your address directly with the DMV. To avoid having to go anywhere or if you’re currently abroad, you can update your address with the DMV completely online here.

Change Your Address at the DMV
If you feel more comfortable changing your address in person with a live representative, you can schedule an in-person appointment with a DMV branch in your county. Some locations may have long wait times and scheduling an appointment is usually recommended when available.
Once both of these steps have been completed, your new address will match what the DMV has on file, so now you will be able to continue with the rest of your renewal and your license will have the correct address on it. You can complete your license renewal in person or online.
